A vegetable set from Shiawase vegetable garden, the largest organic vegetable farm in Shizuoka Prefecture.

A box of vegetables that can be harvested and shipped in July will be delivered.

It contains 8 to 10 bags of organic vegetables, enough for a family of 2 to 3 people for 5 days.

Many vegetables grow quickly during this time of year, thanks to the rain and sunlight.

There may be summer vegetables such as cucumbers, eggplants, and okra, as well as slightly unusual vegetables such as green beans, molokheiya, and tsurumurasaki.

Shiawase vegetable garden is certified by the Organic JAS and GAP, and produces and sells 50 types of vegetables per year, delivered directly from the farm.

The vegetables we deliver are grown slowly in the open, not in a greenhouse. They are seasonal vegetables that have been grown in the sun in nature, surrounded by biodiversity.

For this reason, the types of vegetables vary greatly depending on the season.

In response to customer requests to know what vegetables are included, we introduce the vegetables we deliver in our "Vegetable Set by Month".

Less than 1% of farmland in Japan is organic and certified by the JAS Organic Standards.
The amount of vegetables is not large. They may be small, misshapen, or have holes from insects. It's because of our way of farming: organic.

●Okra
Okra is native to Africa and is rich in nutrients, and is eaten widely overseas.
Our company sent okra to the athletes' village at the Tokyo Olympics, where it was eaten by more than 2,000 athletes.
Shiawase vegetable garden's organic okra won the gold medal at the Shizuoka Food Selection.
It is characterized by its sweetness and aroma.

●Cucumber
Shiawase vegetable garden's cucumbers are "self-rooted cucumbers" that have grown from their own roots.
Most of the cucumbers in supermarkets are "grafted cucumbers" whose roots are pumpkins.
Grafting makes them resistant to disease, has a long harvest period, and produces a large amount.

Cucumbers with their own roots have a thin skin that makes them easily bruised, and they are unevenly shaped and not slender.

In addition, a white powder called "bloom" is on the surface, which some people mistake for pesticides.

However, cucumbers with their own roots have the original taste and texture of cucumbers, and you can tell that they have a subtle sweetness and aroma.

"You can enjoy your salad with the taste of the vegetable, not the dressing."

That is the appeal of cucumbers with their own roots.

●Eggplant
The origin of the word eggplant is "summer fruit," and it is written in kanji as nasu, and is pronounced "nasu" in areas east of Aichi and "nasubi" in areas west of Mie.

Eggplants love the summer sun, and the more they are exposed to the sun, the deeper purple they get, and the more nutritious they become.

The eggplants at Shiawase vegetable garden are organic and grown outdoors, that's ours.

●Himonasu (Snake-like eggplant)
A long, thin eggplant also known as "hebi-nasu(snake eggplant)." It is very delicious, but you won't find them in supermarkets.

It is a delicate plant, and if the wind is strong or if its leaves are nibbled by insects, it will get frightened and bend like a real snake, and it is difficult to distribute it in the market because it is difficult to make it uniform in size.

It is not well known for this reason, but it has an excellent taste, goes well with oil, and has a dense texture. When used in mapo eggplant, summer vegetable curry, miso stir-fry, etc., it becomes fluffy and melts in your mouth.

● Bell peppers
Organically grown bell peppers are less bitter and easier to eat.

Recently, many bell pepper varieties have thick skin to make them last longer, but at Shiawase vegetable garden, we grow traditional varieties with thin skin. They are also sweet, so they are easy to eat even for people who don't like bell peppers.

● Water spinach
Water spinach, which is native to Southeast Asia, loves the humid heat, and in July it grows rapidly.

It is very difficult to grow leafy vegetables in the summer without using pesticides, but even if water spinach is eaten by insects a little, it grows with more power than that.

Water spinach is effective in recovering from summer fatigue. It tastes best because it is oily.

●Potatoes
Potatoes are best under the skin. Organic potatoes grown without pesticides or herbicides may be a little unpleasant to eat at first, but you can eat them with the skin on.
Organic potatoes grown without chemical fertilizers have less bitterness and are savory and sweet.

●Other
The July vegetable set may also include onions, carrots, mulukhiyah, green beans, garlic, etc.
